The new renewed PFWS, under the leadership of Mrs. Shefali Verma, saw many landmark events in the past year. The team's efforts on several projects saw fruition. It called for a celebration to commemorate the struggles, achievements and the rewards that were encountered during the journey of the PFWS revival and renewal. However, there was still was a mammoth project at hand – to generate funds for the WAJIFA program. Then the brilliance struck and a convergence of celebration and cause was designed. Diwali was just around the corner and a mega-event, PFWS Diwali Utsav was proposed which was not only accepted heartily; instead it was taken up enthusiastically. Pieces were put together bit by bit and a grand scheme of things evolved.

The first ever PFWS Diwali Utsav was meticulously planned and executed by the arduous member of the PFWS. The representing team of officials/ officers from the Delhi Police joined hands and enthusiastically contributed their time and efforts to the endeavor. Soon some corporate organizations came forward to support the effort by sponsoring the event. Eminent dignitaries, celebrities and performers readily consented to be a part of the Utsav.

The result was far more encouraging and joyous than it was believed to be. The PFWS Diwali Utsav saw a footfall of over a lakh (a hundred thousand) in a day. The mega-event gave an opportunity, to the thousands of police families across the city, to come together as one extended family and celebrate the festival of lights. It also helped the police officers and the families have fun and entertainment. Concurrently it fulfilled the noble cause of raising funds for the WAJIFA program. The collateral benefit that occurred was the sales of the products produced at various PFWS Centres across Delhi, thereby aiding financial support to the ladies and families who made those products.

The first PFWS Diwali Utsav was held on 15th -16th October 2016 with much enthusiasm and fanfare, at the Sports Ground, New Police Lines, Kingsway Camp, North-West District, Delhi. The stage was set, the stalls were ready, the teams excited and the visitors began pouring in. There were food stalls with traditional, ethnic and modern cuisines, there were Games Stalls where people would win prizes, therewere PFWS stalls which showcased products from PFWS centres including authentic spices, hand made diyas, pickles and bonsais etc. the exhibition stalls displayed a variety of couture, kitchen items, pottery, toys and books.

There was abundance of entertainment at the event with a first of its kind Ramayana on wheels; there were fashion shows by designers, themed photo booths. Music was in full flow with soulful music concerts were held by singers Jassi Gill and Guru Randhawa; live police band played to everyone's delight, the live Jugani Band and Womania Band added to the joy of everyone present. The icing on the cake was the Dance Dhamaka – performances by the Delhi Police family members and the special appearances of the celebrities.

It was truly a passion driven team that has made the dream come true. The dedicated team of PFWS members who worked diligently round the clock to put all the pieces together to create this cultural history of PFWS deserves a special mention, praise and acknowledgment. Not to be missed a special mention and gratitude for our CP Sir's support and silent contribution. His efficient team worked day and night with us and truly was pillar of this success. There are those who are at the forefront and then there are those who work silently in the background. Making any event or program successful would be difficult if not impossible without their support. We would especially acknowledge our team of silent contributors, the officers, the wives of officers, the on-ground works team, volunteers, administrative staff members who stood behind the stage, behind the camera and computers.

We feel gratitude towards the mentioned dignitaries and special guests for gracing our efforts.
